About Us
The LSH team goes into schools and youth centres creating awarness of domestic abuse and unhealthy relationships. The Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service has helped many families recover from some difficult situations. The Rising Sun believes that if we can educate the young people of today about the early warning signs of domestic abuse then the young person will be able to exit the relatioship before it spirals out of control.
We teach 6 main sessions:
-Intro to Domestic Violence/abuse/harrassment
-Self Esteem
-Gender Stereo types
-Rights and Responsibilities
-Behaviour & Consequences/Conflict resolution
-Recap, evaluation and healthy relationships
Each session is interactive with media and activities.
Dan Britnell and Lucy Stone work for the Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service in Canterbury, Kent. They have both spent time with young people and families who have been exposed to domestic violence and unsafe relationships. Their aim is to explain the ways in which unhealthy relationships can negatively affect lives, to create awareness of what's healthy and what's not, and for young people to be able to enjoy safe and healthy relationships.
